Paul Teasdale FCA Chairman and Finance Director
Paul is a chartered Accountant with over 40 years experience both in private practice and in the Safety Consultancy business including 10 years with Hinton & Higgs Ltd before and after its sale to Willis Caroon. Paul has been involved with Safety and Access since its inception in 1991.
Ray Johnson BSc Managing Director
With over 30 years experience of the construction industry including work as a Quantity Surveyor, Site Engineer and Manager as well as nearly 20 years running Safety and Access Ltd, Ray leads the management team. As well as working closely with clients at a senior level Ray is actively involved with the HSE, NASC and other industry safety groups where he advises and gives regular presentations on work at height issues to all industries and other interested parties.
Rick Statham CMIOSH, HAS Dip. Joint Managing Director
Rick is a Chartered Health and Safety professional and a well known figure in the UK construction industry, serving as a member of the NASC National Safety Committee for over 15 years, and playing an instrumental part in the development of key industry guidance such as the original SG4 guidance on Work at Height and SG2 guidance on work with asbestos. He brings over 20 years experience as a safety professional, 17 of which were with a leading national access and industrial services contractor. Rick also represents the access and scaffolding industry within the UK Construction Group (UKCG) Health & Safety Committee and Competence Working Groups as well as the Asbestos Liaison Group (ALG), chaired by HSE. Rick is also a panel assessor for the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. (IOSH)
Rodney Meere BSc, M.St (Cantab), FCIOB, MIOSH Director
With a degree in Building Management, Rodney worked on major civil engineering projects for a national contractor. He then worked in management consultant for three years, advising on a wide spread of different industrial situations, followed by seven years as Director of a major sub-contracting organisation. From 1977 to 1992, Rodney was Chairman and Chief Executive of Hinton and Higgs, a major Health, Safety and Environmental Consultancy. During this time the company was acquired by Willis Risk Management with Rodney appointed Chairman of that organisation. He is currently a director of Safety & Access, Chairman of Independent Safety Services Limited, a member of Lloyds (Insurers) and owner of an underwriting company.
Michael J Morris JP, CFIOSH Director
A much respected figure in the field of Scaffolding Safety, with over 25years as SGB Group Safety Advisor. Mike was developing safety procedures that at the time were well ahead of the field which are now part of accepted best practice. Though now retired from SGB Mike is still involved as a consultant in Safety and Access Ltd as he has since its beginnings as Scaffold Inspection Service Ltd in 1991 and continues to work in an industry that he loves, even if only now on a part time basis.
Alan Johns MSOE, MIRTE Managing Director, Independent Safety Services Limited
Alan has over 25 years experience in Health and Safety and specialises in Transportation issues. Formerly with the Road Transport Industry Training Board, Alan was also a Director of Hinton and Higgs.
Sarah Cockell Commercial Manager
Sarah joined Safety&Access in 2009 in the role of Commercial Manager to develop and coordinate the training and administration of the business. Sarah has worked full time within training for the past 12 years and has extensive experience in construction-related training and general Health & Safety.
Penny Walter (nee Rastall) Dip E.M, MCIWM Technical Director, Independent Safety Services Limited
Penny is a qualified Environmental Manager and Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser with long operational experience working within industrial manufacturing and latterly the healthcare sector. She has developed and implemented Environmental Management Systems for both sectors and has a wealth of experience auditing, training and offering advisery services for UK and international clients. Penny sits on a number of industry groups for wastes management and the carriage of dangerous goods in the UK and is the European Institute of Medical Wastes UK ambassador.
Dr Anne C Woolridge BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD, LCIWM, FHEA Principal Waste Management Consultant, Independent Safety Services Limited
Anne is an experienced waste auditor and trainer, she well-known in the field of healthcare waste management, nationally and internationally. She works closely with a number of organisations in order to improve the management of healthcare waste from both the NHS and private sector. She also sits on the CIWM Special Interest Group for healthcare waste and the Healthcare Waste and Resources Research Group in the UK and is the Chair of the A&WMA (USA) Technical Committee for Medical Waste Management and Treatment.
